earth symbol

the earth symbol

The earth symbol is one of five basic elements in alchemy. Along with, Fire, Air, Water, and the Spirit. Earth represents groundedness, stability, potential, and stillness. We chose the Earth symbol for our єαятн ιѕ нσмє natural cork yoga mat as a constant reminder to let the strength of the earth ground us in our practice and as we move through life.

Yoga is one of the most powerful ways to restore balance in the 5 elements and manifest a space where we can consciously work through them. These elements are accessible through “chakras” – energy centers in our body.

Earth is our root chakra, our home. It represents growth, stability, and support. “Cultivating the earth in your practice is about…Establishing your foundation (feet, hands, sit bones).  It’s about maintaining an awareness of how the state and position of these physical landmarks contribute to your overall experience of stability and ease (sthira and sukham).  And remembering that every pose right through to Savasana is an opportunity to return home”.

When the 5 elements are working in harmony with one another it leads to infinite potential and divine creativity to live and experience the world around us.

“The Earth lives within us, not outside of us. The trees are our lungs, the rivers our bloodstream. We are all interconnected, and what you do to the Earth, ultimately you are doing to yourself”
